The Tao (The Energy of Pure Consciousness)that can be expressed is not the eternal Tao; The name (The Manifestation of the Energy of Pure Consciousness)that can be defined is not the unchanging name.

The unmanifested is the source of creation; The manifested is the mother of all physical things.

From the eternal energy of non-existence, therefore, we serenely observe the mysterious beginning of the Universe; From the eternal existence we clearly see the apparent cycles of distinctions.

These two come from the same source but differ in name, and they both may be called the cosmic Mystery.

Reaching from the Mystery to the mysteries is the door to all knowing.

道可道，非常道；名可名，非常名。無(wú)，名天地之始；有，名萬(wàn)物之母。故常無(wú)，欲以觀其妙；常有，欲以觀其徼。此兩者，同出而異名，同謂之玄。玄之又玄，眾妙之門。

  詮釋:  道是一種超人類的純宇宙意識(shí)能源，是人類語(yǔ)言無(wú)法表述清楚的。由道顯現(xiàn)為人類可見的物質(zhì)世界萬(wàn)物是可以用人類語(yǔ)言來(lái)命名的，物質(zhì)萬(wàn)物背后的根本意識(shí)能量是無(wú)法用人類語(yǔ)言來(lái)命名的。

   未顯現(xiàn)的道是宇宙萬(wàn)物生成之本源，由道顯現(xiàn)的宇宙萬(wàn)物是宇宙萬(wàn)物的誕生。因此，由未顯現(xiàn)的道-純宇宙意識(shí)能源，人類可以追溯到宇宙未形成前的奧妙；由道-純宇宙意識(shí)能源，的物質(zhì)萬(wàn)物顯現(xiàn)可以觀察到宇宙的千變?nèi)f化。

   這兩種形態(tài)同出于道的轉(zhuǎn)化，都十分深邃奧妙，而這兩種形態(tài)奧妙無(wú)窮的重疊和轉(zhuǎn)換就是道的存在與顯現(xiàn)，有形與無(wú)形變化的根本之門。
